On
a beautiful spring Waikuku Beach day, we send warmest greetings to all members
and friends of the Fellowship. These past weeks have been eventful for some of
our number – even life-changing, temporarily at least. But by God’s grace we
have all come through, hopefully stronger in spirit, and closer to our
wonderful Heavenly Father. We trust
the following will interest those of you who faithfully keep in touch via nets
and other means.
News of Members
TREVOR
ZL2TN (Palmerston North) – We know all members/friends of ARCF would have been
sorry and concerned to hear of Trevor’s recent time in the Cardiac units of
Palmerston North and Wellington Hospitals. He is now home, and we join our
prayers with the many others that are being offered for both Trevor and Ruth as
Trevor walks the slow but sure road to recovery. We pray for wisdom of doctors;
and grace, strength and peace for Trevor and Ruth in coming days. We look
forward to hearing his voice amongst us again on a Saturday evening, but we
also realize his recovery is paramount. Trevor, we miss you.
[Just a small aside:
While speaking on phone to Trevor recently, he pointed out an error in his
“Profile” printed in the February 2007 newsletter. Trevor moved to Palmerston
North in 1964, not 1954 as stated. I apologise for this, and now you have good
reason to go back and re-read Trevor’s Profile! Past newsletters may be accessed from archives on website – Mary
ZL3MD]
ALAN
ZL2AEB (Tokoroa) – Alan joins us quite regularly on 40m. We are blessed by his sharing of Scripture
verses, and also by his sharing of progress on his efforts to gain an adult
electrical apprenticeship. May prayers be answered in this regard. The Lord’s
blessing be on Alan and daughter Rachael in all aspects of their lives.
DAVID
ZL1UTS (Auckland) – David has been working long hours with consequent
tiredness, but is thankful to be able to do this. We pray strength for David,
and blessings on family.
GARY
ZL3SV (Motueka) – An email received from Gary Friday evening advised he had
spent that day in Nelson Hospital following his collapse at work in the morning
– apparently result of a virus. But we
thank God for good recovery, and pronounced clean bill of health.
GRAHAM
ZL3NZ (Waikuku Beach) – A visit to Cardiologist this week has resulted in being
placed on waiting list for further angiogram.
This is a frustrating waiting time, and prayer is asked for grace,
patience, and healing.
JAMES
ZL3FV (Hokitika) – James and Sarah crossed the Alps for a few days in the city
this week. James is awaiting cortisone treatment for a stiff shoulder, and we
continue to pray for healing. Has now constructed a bracket for a new dipole.
JOHN
ZL3TR (Christchurch) – It was good to receive a letter from John recently, in
which he shared news of recent health challenges. But he also stated, “I am being looked after really well and continuing to
realize God’s presence ….. I can’t give you all a time frame how long I will be
‘off the air’ … James (ZL3IJ) can relay all [my] information to those of you on
the net and in ‘The Frequency’ Newsletter … Best 73s to all who receive the Newsletter”. John, our
prayers and thoughts are with you, and no matter how long you are ‘off air’,
you are one of us, and we value your faithful support.
KEITH
ZL3AHL (Christchurch) – It is wonderful to hear Keith back on air, and we
continue to remember him and Grace as Keith continues to recover from major
surgery to aid mobilisation. He is now needing cataract surgery, though can
still see radio dials!
KELVIN
ZL1LY (Tokoroa) – We are encouraged to have more checking on to 40m on a Sunday
(4pm), in spite of propagation still being difficult between some stations. We
remember both Kelvin and Penny, and are grateful for Kelvin’s faithfulness as
Netmaster each week.
LOU
ZL1USN (Nelson) – We value Lou’s participation with the Scripture verse he
often shares. Thank you so much. We never know who may be listening, and be
blessed.
RON
ZL2OY (Wellington) – It was good to receive a letter from Ron recently, in
which he stated: “It is always good to
receive ‘The Frequency’ and to find out how other Christian Hams are getting
on. I had a lovely 80th birthday on 3 June with my son and family
near Palmerston North. Unfortunately I have been off air for a while. I had a
lovely solid state transceiver which I obtained from a good friend. From
someone else I got a power supply but after a short while it blew up and took
my transceiver with it. Currently I am building a modulator for an ARC-5 so I
can go on AM now and again.” Ron also wrote that he
was due to visit hospital on 17 August, and our prayers are that all will be
well in this regard.
STAN
ZL4OW (Oamaru) – We remember Stan and daughter Jennifer midst their life
challenges, and appreciate Stan’s participation on nets, even though often
tired. He recently enjoyed a time of reminiscing during visit of a brother.
NETMASTERS
We
are grateful for the willingness of PAUL ZL2BEQ and JAMES ZL3IJ who have led
the 80m nets in Trevor’s absence. We take one week at a time, and provision has
been made thus far. We have also been encouraged by the numbers checking in.
May God’s provision continue as time unfolds – we commit all to Him, our
Supreme Provider.
[Left] ADAM ZL1VI, and TAMI ZL1SXY, with
daughter Hayley (Hawera) – When Adam, Tami and Hayley visited us some weeks
ago, we captured this lovely picture of them. They are awaiting the birth of a
new Grandchild in coming weeks. May God bless this family, especially as Hayley
begins on a course of home schooling next year.
Birthdays
– We
are aware of the following who will be
celebrating
birthdays in September, and pray God’s blessing on each: Peter ZL2HOT (5th);
Paul ZL2BEQ (19th); Peter ZL2APJ (21st); Sydney ZL1BRS
(25th); David ZL1UTS (30th).
IN
CONCLUSION
“Knowing
this, that the trying of faith worketh patience”. (James 1:3)
If
you are in a fiery trial today, be advised – it’s your faith that’s on trial!
Faith is such a key issue in Christian living that folks in the early church
were called “believers” because of their great faith. Here are two things you need to know about faith, if you are
going to use yours effectively:
(1)
Faith cannot alter purpose; it’s only God’s agent in fulfilling it! If God’s
plan requires that you go through tough times in order to accomplish His will
(and it usually does), then faith is what enables you to endure. It’s like the
night watchman that protects God’s purposes in your life.
(2)
It’s wonderful when God prospers you, but don’t make temporal success and
creature comforts the barometer of your faith! In Hebrews 11 we find two groups
of people: those who demonstrated such faith that their very shadow healed the
sick, “and others” whose faith enabled them to bleed to death beneath a pile of
stones for the cause of Christ (Heb 11:37). Notice, both groups “obtained a
good report through faith” (Heb 11:39).
Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego discovered that when God is with you, 3 things happen:
(a)
You’ll go through the fire, but instead of destroying you, it’ll refine you and
reposition you for greater blessing. (b) Situations that cause others to falter
or give up, will cause you to triumph.
(c)
When you come out, you’ll have something to say that’ll convince both friend
and foe alike.
[From Word for Today, 23/1/05]
Until
we meet again, 73s and God’s abundant blessing be on you all.
