Newsletter of the Amateur Radio Christian Fellowship
(N.Z.) |

We
send warmest greetings to every member and friend of ARCF, right in the heart
of winter. We trust that none of you have succumbed to the “swine” flu, and
that if you have managed to contract any bugs, they are, or soon will be gone.
Fellowship News
It
has been a blessing in recent weeks to welcome larger numbers onto nets,
reaching a peak of 17 on 80m on 26 June. Even on 40m, where conditions have
made propagation difficult over a long time, higher numbers are checking in. Thank
you for continued support and fellowship, and thank you for letting us be in
your number.
This
month, all matters for prayer are included in the following notes. We commit
all these matters to every member who prays believing.
STAN
ZL4OW (Weston, Oamaru) – Stan has recently spent time in Dunedin Hospital
having stent implantation. We think and pray for Stan, and for daughter
Jennifer. May the Lord be your Strength and your Healer.
LOU
ZL1USN (Nelson) – We much enjoyed a visit from Lou and friend Karen on their
way to Christchurch, where Lou was attending a computer course. How good to see
Lou sit down at our piano / organ and play some of our favourite hymns. A rare
treat. [See
photo of Lou sitting at Graham’s radio]
TREVOR
ZL2TN (Palmerston North) – In early June was suffering a painful right arm. Son
is making good but slow progress. Our prayers are with you both, Trevor. Your
help and major contribution to this Fellowship are much appreciated.
DAVID
ZL1UTS (Auckland) – Sat electrical examination 20 June, and we believe is
confident of being successful. That is our wish too, with prayers for David’s
whole family.
WARREN
ZL3WPS (Hamilton) – Warren’s Mother has recently been unwell, and we think of
Warren in his privileged though responsible role of carer. May the Lord be his
strength.
JOHN
ZL3TR (Christchurch) – Has not been so well, and our thoughts and prayers
remain.
ADAM
ZL1VI (Hawera) – With Tami, will be leaving for South Island holiday early
July, planning to be in Hanmer weekend of 3-5 July. We look forward to their
visit with us.
TAMI
ZL2SXY (Hawera) – xyl of Adam (above) has passed her Amateur Radio Licence. Our
warmest congratulations, Tami! It has been so good to hear you on nets, and we
look forward to many future contacts.
KEITH
ZL3AHL (Christchurch – Our prayers will be with Keith as he enters Christchurch
Hospital on 1 July for surgery which will restore mobility. Loving thoughts
with Keith and Grace during this time of surgery and recovery.
HUGH
ZL2BHK (New Plymouth) – We enjoyed having Hugh and xyl Jennifer staying with us
recently on their way south, and look forward to their return on 3 July for
another stay, as they travel home again. We pray for journeying mercies, and
blessing on new Grandson.
PETER
ZL1CDF (Huntly) – Please remember Peter and Estelle in prayer as they live with
health challenges. We appreciate so much Peter’s fellowship when he joins us on
nets.
ALAN
ZL2AEB (Tokoroa) – We remember Alan in prayer as he seeks employment in the
electrical trade. His participation on 40m net is an encouragement to us. May
the Lord bless Alan and daughter Rachael.
JAMES
ZL3FV (Hokitika) – James sustained a fall from ladder onto his driveway while erecting
new antenna. We pray for his healing, as he takes time from work for
recuperation
New
antenna is working well, with a QSO to Italy on 40m last Saturday.
ALAN
ZL2TAG (Thailand) – We remember Alan and Averil as they prepare for their
return to NZ. May God be with them in their plans, their return, and as they
settle back into NZ life. We look forward to future contacts once Alan is “on
air”.
KELVIN
ZL1LY (Tokoroa) – Kelvin had hip surgery on 15 June, and progress is
satisfactory though slow. We remember him and Penny in prayer during this time
of healing and gaining strength. Kelvin’s support in leading our 40m net is much valued, and we
look forward very much to his return.
HANS
ZL1JA (Waikuku Beach) – So good to hear Hans on 14 June, when he reported that
his son (Australia) is very well, for which we thank God.
Most of the above notes are requests
for prayer. Don’t let us ever tire of remembering each other before our
Heavenly Father, and do not forget others mentioned in recent months.
Birthdays
We
apologise for omitting June birthdays in last newsletter. These were: Ron ZL2OY
(Wellington) (80) 3/6; Warren (Timaru)
15/6; Udy Hart (Pahiatua) 25/6. Graham
ZL3NZ celebrates his on 13/7 (77). May

Chuck Missler Interview
Those
with internet may like to watch a very interesting interview which Gary ZL3SV
(Mainland Television) held with Chuck Missler, world-renowned Bible teacher, on
his recent visit to NZ. May be viewed from a link on ARCF website, or at www.angelsnz.zl3sv.htm.

Sir
Alexander Fleming, who discovered Penicillin, was asked during an interview,
“What was your greatest discovery?” The great man replied “That I am a sinner,
whom Jesus has saved.” (Don MacLennan, G3KGM)

In conclusion – “Indeed there are many members, yet one body”. (1
Corinthians 12:20)
A
small Christian assembly in our region has recently passed through tumultuous
times, resulting in many of its members suffering deep hurts, and a large
proportion of the already small group leaving. This must cause grief to the
heart of Him who founded the Church, also known as “His Body”. Looking on, one
can easily say, “Where is their forgiveness? Where is their grace”? But when
one is caught in the midst, not so easy.
In his book The Pursuit of
God, A.W. Tozer wrote, “Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos
all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of
one accord by being tuned not to each
other but to another standard to
which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshipers [meeting]
together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other
than they could possibly be were they to become unity-conscious and turn their
eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship”. Although Tozer’s comments were written with worship in mind, they
reveal the secret of Christian unity. The more we centre our thoughts on
Christ, the more we will be drawn to one another as His followers and the more
our differences will fade into insignificance. The Apostle John wrote, “That
which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that you also may have
fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His
Son Jesus Christ.” (1 John 1:3). Are
we really “in tune” with Christ? [Courtesy Our Daily
Bread]
73s,
and may God’s richest blessing rest upon each one of you, until we meet again.
