Year 7   No. 11

Newsletter of the Amateur Radio Christian Fellowship (N.Z.)

Nativity Scene - on this day our savior was born

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men[Luke 2:14]

With this final newsletter for 2009, we send our warmest greetings to all members and friends of this Fellowship. May the celebration of this holy time impact not only our own hearts, but those who are connected to us as family and friends. May all see in us the evidence of our love for God and His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord and Redeemer.

Thank you to all who have come on to nets, sent messages, or even called and visited, during this past year. A special thanks to Trevor ZL2TN and Kelvin ZL1LY, our netmasters, for their faithfulness and support – and Adam ZL1VI and Paul ZL2BEQ  who help by taking their turn.

Special thanks too to Gary ZL3SV for his work with web site and with echolink, thus enabling more to participate. Thanks to all who have in some way shared their lives, their prayers, and their news with all the others, making this truly a Fellowship. Most importantly, thanks be to God, the Supreme Provider of all that enables this Fellowship to exist, and without Whom we would not exist, because this is all done in His name.

Nets will continue each week, for those able to join us, and we look forward to hearing you all, plus others who have seldom, if ever, come onto nets before. Everyone is welcome.

RECORDING OF SERVICES FROM ST MARGARET’S CHURCH, CHRISTCHURCH [This sent by KEITH ZL3AHL]

“Most churches these days record their services or sermons to cassette tape for further use by their members as I have done in the past. With the introduction of Data Projectors and the use of Power Point illustrations by ministers and preachers the cassette tape is taking a back seat, but still useful. As you will appreciate when listening to a cassette tape, when the minister is referring to a point on the screen the listener has no idea what he or she is referring to. I now record the sermon to video tape, (plus getting an audio lead from the sound desk for good quality sound); also I receive a copy of the Power Point presentation and record it all to my computer video editing programme, applying the Power Point slides at the appropriate place, making a complete sermon. I also make available copies on rewritable DVD’s or VHS tape to church members on request. While there is not a great number of requests, it is meeting a need for members who, for whatever reason, can’t come to Church, and others who may want to hear the sermon again. I also upload the sermons to a Christian web site called “Resonate” which has our Church web site on it and can be accessed by others.  If you would like to see what we are doing, go to:

www.stmargaretschurch.org.nz/a/sermons.   I have also uploaded a series by our minister on the books of the Minor Prophets. Enjoy.”   [Many thanks, Keith!  We are sure there will be interest in following this up. Keith’s photo appears in our web site Gallery, for those who have not met him].

NOEL MORRIS ZL1AIB:  “Jesus is Alive, in Russia … and in Japan!”

Noel, a member of ARCF and who, with wife Edith, runs Faithnet Media (also known as Morris Media and Faith Ministries) in Hamilton, made a recent mission trip to EASTERN RUSSIA to visit and teach in the “Faith in Action” Bible School. This school was founded in the 1990’s following Noel’s receiving from the Holy Spirit a strong conviction of a need for teaching the many hundreds of young Russians coming to faith in Jesus Christ. This remains one of the few residential Bible Schools in Eastern Russia, and to date around 200 graduates have been sent out into various ministries. Noel writes: “I was joined in Russia by Karl and Lorraine Dunseath from NZ, and later by John Cathcart, daughter Bethany and son Joseph from USA. They taught some classes at the Bible School to give me an occasional break … At present … only a small class – 5 men and 2 women. However for two weeks they soaked up my teaching on Blood Covenants, Anger, Guidance, and Motivational Gifts.”  Refurbishment of the Bible School is taking place, as finance allows.

Noel also visited areas in JAPAN where he and Edith had worked in Church-planting and ministry over many years. Of special blessing was to visit Okayama, where Noel and Edith had started and pastored a small Church 20 years previously. A 7-year-old boy baptised then, is now Pastor of that Church. Noel writes: “What a blessing for me. Although a small mid-week meeting, one lady received an eye healing …”.  He continues: “…I attended the FGBMFI 20th annual conference …Most of the leaders are men I had worked closely with in the past … I brought greetings Noel and Dennisfrom FGBMFI in NZ and from Bill Subritzky who was speaker at their first convention 20 years ago. I was privileged to speak three times, including giving a power point presentation of their early history.”

Noel expressed thanks for prayer and financial support for this journey. He also commented: “I have a Russian friend, Gregory (UAOCK), who was a pastor but now is involved in setting up Christian conferences in Russia and China … I talk with him on Skype regularly. So far no ham radio contact.”

[Thank you Noel for sending this, which we’ve changed a little to give more background information. For full illustrated report, visit the Faithnet web site http://www.faithnet.co.nz   May God’s blessing continue to rest upon all that you both are doing, both at home and overseas].

BIRTHDAYS

According to our records, those with birthdays in December include:  Glenda ZL2GEM (5th); Warren ZL3WPS (6th); Noel ZL1AIB (11th); Bill ZL4AE (19th).  May God’s richest blessing rest upon each one of you through this coming year, as well as any others with birthdays of which we are not aware.

IN CONCLUSION

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn”. [Luke 2:7]

The “no vacancy” sign was prominently displayed that night in Bethlehem. And nearly two thousand years later it still hangs in many lives.

Normally, a woman in Mary’s condition might expect the simple courtesy of a place to stay. But those were not normal times. James Hastings paints a word picture of that crowded night in Bethlehem:

“It was a time when every available accommodation was called for, and the people of the inn were too busy to recognize that here was a claim which, in their less occupied moments, they never would have denied. And so Christ was simply crowded out. There was no room.

“Without doubt it is the same today. Every chamber of the soul is so filled with human interests that there is little room for Christ. There is little – if any – time for Him.  And this is true because a thousand other things demand our time. Our interest is drawn off in other directions. Our life is crowded with possessions and pleasures until, strange though it seems, there is no room for the Saviour … except in the stable.

“If we are so preoccupied as to have no room for Christ in our life, then our life is a failure. This is the test of everything:  Room for Christ.”

[From Closer Walk New Testament – Walk Thru the Bible Ministries, Zondervan Bible Publishers].

73s.  “ Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever.”  [Jude 25]

We wish you all a peaceful and safe Christmas and year to follow. If any are travelling in our vicinity in North Canterbury, please call in – we would love to see you.
